Having major problems trying to open Firefox, clicking and choosing to open up to 27 times - still nothing. Frustrating. When it does open I frequently get a screen Well this is embarrassing (offering to recover tabs that have been closed owing to errors). I do not know why this is so unreliable but would appreciate a more stable version that actually works!
I hate that they screwed the lovely Firefox by removing the status icons on top of each tab. This way it is hard to know if the tab is connecting or done.
Set to delete all cookies when closed. Now notice that it will clear the cookies but will sometimes leave Bing, Yahoo, Google and other search engine cookies. Have they found a way around being deleted or is there a problem with this version? I also clear “Super Cookies” at close.
I use both FF and FF Beta, but this review is for the stable version (not the newest stable version either). (I use FF 14 because FF 15 isn't compatible with the Delicious bookmarks add-on.)
I like Firefox because it has so many options. I can add extensions, decide which cookies to allow or disallow, sync my settings, use different profiles, and customize how FF looks.
One of my favorite built-in features is the about pages (especially about:config). I can easily find out a lot of things about what my browser is doing. I also like having so many skins and themes to choose from.
However, there are several features that FF does not have built into it. For example, I cannot delete LSO or DOM cookies straight from FF without an add-on. I can't even SEE them! Another useful feature that comes only from an add-on is the sidebar. I couldn't survive without my sidebar! And these are only a few of the many things that FF should be able to do on its own!
Overall, FF is a great browser. It has tons of room to improve, but what browser -- what SOFTWARE -- doesn't?
I loved Firefox and used to recommend it to all my friends, but now it is nothing but a lot of trouble to deal with. I click on the icon and I get this message that Firefox cannot find Google, or Facebook, or Yahoo, or anything else that I need to use. I also do not like the disappearing tool bar. If I so much as get too close to it with the cursor, it hops up and down, and is not just irritating or annoying, but results in a lot of screaming of filthy words I will not detail here, but keep that in mind when I tell you that pissing off your users by creating and then forcing this "new and improved" way to read a page and then not listening to us when we ask you to change it back, does not make us acquiesce to your wishes. It makes us go to other options, just as I have. I do not like Chrome much, either, because I don't care for Bing, but I can easily go to Google to get what I want. I also do not like that I must double click in order to return to the previous page. It is just about as aggravating as Firefox, but not quite, and it is that "not quite" that has made me decide to use it instead of Firefox. You want me and the others back as users? Fix the damned thing. It worked just fine as it was and as the saying goes (not that anyone in IT actually heeds it): "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."
If you don't like the way it feels and look just customize it. If you know how to use Firefox properly then it should not be a problem. But by the way you are describing it, it is your setting from your end. Take the time and go over your setting's. I for one don't like the new look and rearranged everything back to how I wanted it to look and feel. I am impressed with the speed of Fox even tho I have a very strong computer. It's speed is quite good even on my other older machines. Overall I'm happy with version 14.+ so far, but I do miss the older version 3.6.+.
